As one adventure ends, Another begins

Zoë Hart in the Delta Skyclub before her flight from JFK to Bermuda.

At least I could sleep in until my normal 5 am wake-up time. My body was sore from the day and missing my perfect bed. But, my internal excitement about heading back to the ocean provided subtle stimulation.

It’s funny how being in New York is a bit of a hassle, but it still ultimately makes sense. Like I knew my Uber would be waiting in the middle of the street, and the driver wouldn’t bother to help me with my luggage. But I guess I liked the comfort of knowing what to expect. Every time I come to Brooklyn, I dream about living here.

Though it was early, I sent most of my NYC friends my appreciation texts for spending time with me. I found that it’s better to send love as soon as I wake up as opposed to being considerate with time. At this point, all should know how to put their phones on do not disturb.

The JFK airport was a bit more chaotic than usual as they had like six options to go through security, whereas most are used to three (regular, pre-check, clear) or, at most, 4 (first/business). They had an entirely new sign that caused a crowd and constant questions. I’m sure that by the next time I fly through this airport, they’ll revert back to the norm. I think it’s good to test new things.

I went directly to the lounge and was reminded I was here a few months ago before my flight to Lisbon. On that day, the staff decided I was worth celebrating and brought over bottles of champagne and a cheese plate.

Today was more chill. I just drank my smoothie and relaxed until it was time to board my flight.

The flight was easy. I sat next to a guy in PR/Communications who worked part-time in Bermuda and part-time in NYC. The flight attendant loved us and kept showering us with drinks, snacks, and laughter. I loved this short flight to Bermuda. I learned on the flight that Bermuda was in a different time zone and mostly empty at this time of the year.

As I sat on the first row, I was out of the plane, through customs, and with Aniesia in less than 10 minutes. I love how easy traveling is when everything is going your way.

After leaving the airport, we went directly to Crystal Caves. We arrived an hour earlier than scheduled since I was so fast getting out of the airport, but it was a vibe all the same.

I should have known it was empty when we were the only people at the caves, besides the lady checking tickets and our tour guide. I love exploring the underground, so it was fascinating to have so much trust in being somewhere that could easily crush you.

After this, we stopped by a restaurant to grab lunch before our massage. It was a typical casual restaurant near the road. When I sat outside, the weather reminded me of San Diego, a gentle breeze that required a light jacket.

Miracles and Wonders

  • I cleared customs and immigration less than 10 minutes from landing in Bermuda

  • I had my first massage in a cave, floating on water

  • I fell asleep to the sounds of waves crashing against the rocks underneath my balcony

After lunch, we had massages in this cave, similar to Crystal Caves. The cave was 500,000 years old. The place had beds floating on the water. While I didn’t like feeling like I was in a water bed during a massage, I liked the relaxation that an amazing massage provides.

The entrance to the floating room that Aniesia and I received full body massages.

After our massage, we were finally able to go to our hotel and relax for a spell before dinner. I tried to sleep, but alas, I still cannot sleep on demand. So, I just closed my eyes and let the one hour of chill time wash through me. I knew that I needed to rally to be social for dinner. I was so happy to be the photographer for my girl’s extension of her birthday. Yet again, I went to bed feeling so lucky to have the opportunity to live my dreams.
