Releasing 2022: Day 1 of no task lists

Iman, Zoë Hart, my mom, LaShawnda (Iman’s mom) L to R: Enjoying the start of the day

Sometimes bliss is having a completely spontaneous day with an empty to-do list. This is how I decided to end the year. Luckily I was surrounded by the right amount of love.

I decided to let myself sleep in today without a single thing planned. At 9 am, I woke up to my mom walking on the treadmill. It made me think about the fact that each of us is the average of the people around us. I don’t think my mom has ever used a treadmill before, but the fact is that anyone who stays at my house over a few days eventually figures out a way to use it. The fact that she used the treadmill every day made me feel like I am a positive wellness force in her life.

Later, I got up to go downstairs to write in my journal. Soon after that, LaShawnda called to ask if she and Iman could come over to have breakfast with my mom and me. If yall know me, the answer is always yes if food is offered. So, I commenced to do the company is coming over cleaning in preparation for her visit.

We ended up ordering pick-up from the Coffee Spot, a black-owned restaurant close by. I always get fish with hashbrowns and basil lemonade and feel oh so good. It was a perfect morning.

After letting the itis sink in, I took a glorious nap and woke up to several beautiful text messages. This one was so on point from the first day of the experiment, a reminder about how signs appear in our world.

Later i did my gratitude practice and ended the day feeling loved and drinking love kombucha.
